This exhibition’s aim is to present design from the perspective of the challenges and commitments assumed by this activity in social development, integration of diversity and sustainability, for the wellbeing of individuals and society.
‘Inclusive and social design: design for people and collective interest’ exhibition will be open for visits between December 14th and February 18th at the cultural and innovation complex Las Naves in València, a city that will be World Design Capital in 2022.
The exhibition introduces, in an informative manner, a wide-ranging panorama of committed design, organized around various thematic areas covering the concepts of inclusion, accessibility and social development.
Eyesynth are the first glasses, developed by a Spanish company, that, thanks to an algorithm, convert spatial and visual information into audio that blind people can understand. We collaborated on this project in the formal exterior design and industrial development of these glasses, including in their aesthetics the whole electronic system that makes this historical feat possible.
More specifically, Eyesynth uses 3D cameras and a software algorithm to transform spaces and objects into abstract sound that is transmitted through cochlear headphones – through the bones of the skull – to the inner ear. The inner ear is then capable of encoding it to find out information about the size, shape, and position of objects at a short and medium distance (up to 6 meters).
This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Las Naves, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería del Diseño (ETSID) of València.
This year Eyesynth was also selected as one of the exhibition pieces in the ‘Valencia Pavilion. The Future is Design’ in at the Madrid Design Festival. Alegre Design is a Creative Supporter of World Design Capital Valencia 2022.
