Recognition
Modaq, the modular seating system developed by Alegre Design for RIM, has been awarded Furniture of the Year 2026 (Nábytek Roku 2026) by the Czech Furniture Association.
The award recognises furniture solutions that combine functionality, industrial quality, aesthetics and long-term value. For Alegre Design and RIM, this recognition confirms a shared approach to product development grounded in clarity, adaptability and real use conditions.
More than an isolated object, Modaq was conceived as a system capable of evolving with the changing needs of contemporary public environments.
A Modular Seating System for Contemporary Spaces
Modaq was developed for spaces where flexibility, durability and comfort are essential.
Airports, waiting areas, hospitality spaces and collaborative environments increasingly require seating systems able to adapt naturally to different architectural and social conditions.
The project combines:
• modular flexibility
• structural precision
• ergonomic comfort
• industrial feasibility
• long-term durability
Its adaptable structure allows multiple linear, corner and collaborative configurations, creating a seating system designed to support intensive daily use while maintaining a clear and timeless identity.
Every component was developed to simplify configuration, improve usability and extend the lifespan of the system.

Collaboration with RIM
Developed together with RIM, Modaq reflects an ongoing collaboration focused on seating systems for contemporary public and collective environments.
Through this project, Alegre Design and RIM explored how modular seating can create more human, functional and adaptable spaces, combining industrial development with a long-term design perspective.
Furniture of the Year 2026 recognises not only the product itself, but also a shared commitment to creating solutions that improve how people experience public spaces.
