When we conceived the TNK500, we were not simply designing an office chair, but asserting a principle: creating a piece capable of lasting through time with a clear and distinctive aura. Its injected-aluminium structure and refined silhouette established a classic that helped define Actiu’s identity.
With TNK 500 AUREA, that classic evolves. Actiu entrusted us with elevating one of its most emblematic designs through new materials and more sophisticated details. AUREA extends the legacy of the TNK program into a contemporary landscape where ergonomics, durability and visual harmony shape the modern workspace.

Our challenge
Redesigning an icon without losing its soul
The TNK500 already occupied a prominent position within Actiu’s catalogue, recognised for advanced ergonomics and precision engineering. Evolving such a product required sensitivity: enhancing its character without altering the structural clarity and balanced proportions that made it timeless.
Actiu sought a renewed material expression capable of amplifying its presence in representative environments. The introduction of a new aluminium structure and exclusive metallic finishes demanded a careful reinterpretation. Our task was to reinforce its sculptural qualities, adding value and distinction while ensuring full coherence with the TNK family.
The goal was not to reinvent a Red Dot–awarded design, but to reveal new layers of sophistication within its established language.
The impact
AUREA: Elevating the legacy
TNK 500 AUREA strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Actiu and Alegre Design, demonstrating how an iconic product can evolve with precision and intention. The new aluminium architecture and metallic tones introduce a richer aesthetic, elevating the chair to a more emblematic category aligned with executive and high-representative spaces.
Its ergonomic performance remains faithful to the original, yet the new materiality reframes comfort in more emotional terms. AUREA consolidates the TNK500 as a key symbol within Actiu’s portfolio: technically reliable, visually elevated and fully relevant to contemporary workspaces.

From essence to brilliance: A journey of precision and balance
The evolution of the TNK500 began by returning to its foundations. Its aluminium structure, the backbone of the original concept, was reinterpreted through a more refined geometry that expresses both solidity and lightness. From this process emerged the new bronze, titanium and copper finishes, enriching the chair’s identity.
Throughout the journey, we cultivated a quiet dialogue between form and function. AUREA does not impose itself on the space; it integrates, balances and elevates it.
This evolution reaffirms a design philosophy rooted in longevity. TNK 500 AUREA is not merely an update, but the continuation of a classic shaped by new technologies and a more nuanced emotional language. A timeless piece with a more defined presence.
